As of this writing, Zavgorodniy is off to a monstrous start to his season with the QMJHL’s Rimouski Oceanic. He’s third in the Q in scoring with 28 points in 13 games – a byproduct of playing on the same line as top 2020 NHL Draft prospect Alexis Lafreniere.
For the curious, here’s a quick snapshot of the Calgary representation in the six Canada Russia Series games next month.
Date | Host | Canada | Russia |
Nov. 4 Nov. 5 | Saint John Moncton | Jakob Pelletier (Flames | Dmitry Zavgorodniy (Flames0 |
Nov. 7 Nov. 11 | Kitchener London | nobody | nobody |
Nov. 13 Nov. 14 | Saskatoon Prince Albert | Jett Woo (Hitmen) Carson Focht (Hitmen) | Egor Zamula (Hitmen) |
In summation: if you’re only a Flames or Hitmen fan, you can probably skip the pair of Ontario games. If you’re interested in seeing who could suit up for Canada at the upcoming World Juniors, they all might be worth a look.
