In the aftermath of the 2019 Heritage Classic in Regina, some news from the National Hockey League’s Department of Player Safety. Winnipeg Jets forward Adam Lowry will face a hearing on Monday for his boarding incident at the end of the second period with Calgary Flames defenseman Oliver Kylington.
Here’s the hit in question:

Kylington was obviously in a good deal of discomfort. To be blunt: there was really no reason for that hit to take place. Kylington barely missed any time – he was likely evaluated during the intermission – but the riskiness of this hit is likely why Player Safety wants to have a chat.
