Andersson, a 2015 2nd round pick, has played in 135 games for the Flames scoring 31 points.
This season, he has 12 points in 45 games.
The 23-year-old Malmo, Sweden native is in his second full season with the club and joins Noah Hanifin as the clubs second young defenceman locked up long term.
Andersson has scored been a positive possession player at 5v5 this season, but has posted a poor goal rate (40%). Nine of Andersson’s points this year have come at even-strength, while the remainder have come during limited time on the powerplay.
The Swede was set to become a restricted free agent at the end of the season and his new deal buys the club two years of his UFA time.
