Folks, it’s almost time for NHL hockey to return!
In advance of their Jan. 14 puck drop against the Jets, the Calgary Flames have unveiled their 2020-21 training camp roster!
The Flames have invited 41 players to camp – five goalies, 12 defensemen and 24 forwards, plus four players who will be late arrivals. The camp is limited to 36 skaters, so as the three late-arriving skaters arrive the club will have to cut skaters who are already in camp.
They have to unveil a cap compliant roster of 20 to 23 players by 3 p.m. MT on Jan. 12. They’re also required to carry between four and six players on their taxi squad, one of which will be a goaltender. (The taxi squad is basically an extension of their AHL roster, but hang out with the NHL team as extra bodies.)
The camp will be closed to the public and feature zero pre-season games and two scrimmages.
