A big past few months is continuing for the Iginla family.
In November, Jarome Iginla was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame. His daughter, Jade, has been invited to try out for Team Canada’s entry at the Under-18 Women’s World Championship. And now his eldest son Tij has been drafted by the Seattle Thunderbirds ninth overall in the WHL Prospects Draft.
For those following along:
- Jade, 17, played with Dexter Prep (in the Boston area) and Shattuck St. Mary’s before joining Kelowna’s prestigious Rink Hockey Academy this season.
- Tij, 15, and Joe, 13, are also playing at the Rink Hockey Academy, albeit on boys teams in different age groups than Jade plays in.
Tij is likely a year or two away from competing for a spot on Seattle’s WHL roster, but just being drafted is a huge accomplishment for a young hockey player.
