Flames recall Dustin Wolf from Stockton

The Calgary Flames are going to have a slightly different goaltending tandem for Saturday night’s game against the Vancouver Canucks. The club has recalled goaltender Dustin Wolf from the American Hockey League’s Stockton Heat. While not specified in the release, we’re told the recall is on an emergency basis.
Wolf, who turned 21 last week, has had a superb first pro season for Stockton. He’s emerged as the top young goaltender in the league and one of the top goaltenders in the league of any age. He’s posted a 33-8-4 record with a 2.33 goals against average and .924 save percentage this season. He’s first in wins, sixth in goals against average and third in save percentage among the AHL’s regular goaltenders. As a rookie, Wolf has definitively laid claim to the third spot in Calgary’s goaltending depth chart.
Wolf is expected to be a strong contender for the AHL’s year-end awards for top goaltender (the Aldege “Baz” Bastien Memorial Award) and top rookie (the Dudley “Red” Garrett Memorial Award) due to his stellar freshman season.
This is Wolf’s second recall. He dressed as backup in place of Daniel Vladar at the end of December, as Vladar wasn’t able to travel to Seattle following the team’s COVID outbreak due to border regulations.
The Flames host Vancouver on Saturday night at the Saddledome in their final home game of the regular season.
