Nashville Predators: 5 — Martin Erat, David Legwand, Marcel Goc, Cody Franson [GWG], Dave Scatchard
Calgary Flames: 3 — Dion Phaneuf, Jarome Iginla (2)

PLAYERS OF THE GAME:

PREDATORS – Martin Erat. Erat had a goal and two assists in 18:57 of ice time. With eight goals in his last eight games, the former Red Deer Rebel had a good outing against his former junior coach.
FLAMES – Jarome Iginla. Iginla played 22:26 and had two goals and an assist for a three point night. Him and Olli Jokinen continue to look awkward & uncomfortable together, and at some point here you have to think Brent Sutter will split the duo. On the other hand, I’ve expected that for some time already and it hasn’t happened. The important thing here is the man they call Iggy finally found the twine. He went top-shelf 3:48 into the 2nd period with an absolute beauty of a shot. Then, at 10:45 he potted another, getting some luck along the way, as the puck bounced off the Nashville defender with a great second effort from Iginla. Dion Phaneuf also played a decent game with a goal and a team-high 25:01 of icetime.

OTHER NOTES:

The Flames outshot the Preds 32 – 20 and likely deserved a better fate. Mikka Kiprusoff wasn’t as sharp as he needs to be, but the team should be able to "win one for the Kipper" from time to time.
Robyn Regehr played in his 700th NHL game today.
Brian McGrattan and Wade Belak had their second fight of the year (Courtesy HockeyFightsDOTcom… http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=paYFTQ9zkFc&feature=player_embedded). Give McGrattan the decisive victory. So far this season, Derek Boogaard is the only enforcer to stand in his way.
Forward Marcel Goc also had a three point night with a goal and two assists for the Preds.

UP NEXT:

The St. Louis Blues visit "The ‘Dome" Wednesday 12/23/09 @ 7:30 (live on TSN) for the Flames final matchup before Christmas. The Blues currently sit in last place in the Western Conference. Head Coach Andy Murray appears to be on the hotseat. Could former Oiler coach Craig MacTavish be next in line?

Random Tidbit:

Legendary Calgary wrestler Bret ‘the Hitman’ Hart recently signed a deal with WWE. Expect him to appear on the January 4th edition of Monday Night RAW.
