The round robin chaos of the 2020 World Junior Championship is behind us. Now, we get the medal round chaos over the final three days of action.
Here’s a quick snapshot of what to expect from hockey’s best international event.

Quarterfinals – Thursday

  • 4:30 a.m. MT: Switzerland vs. Russia (TSN 3/4/5)
  • 6:30 a.m. MT: Canada vs. Slovakia (TSN 1)
  • 9:30 a.m. MT: United States vs. Finland (TSN 3)
  • noon MT: Sweden vs. Czech Republic (TSN 1)
If you have the day off work, brew some coffee and settle in for a lot of good hockey. The Russians are likely still the favourite here, but virtually every game carries some intrigue.
Don’t expect to see Dustin Wolf in net for the United States, however, as Spencer Knight will get the net for the Americans for the duration.

Semi-Finals – Saturday

The semis go at 7 a.m. and 11 a.m. MT on Saturday on TSN 1. The surviving team with the best round robin record gets the right to decide what game they play in, and the match-ups are re-seeded so the best team faces the weakest remaining team. Because the final games are on Sunday, there’s an advantage to the best team choosing the first game to maximize their recovery prior to the gold medal game. (For the curious, Sweden was the best round robin club.)

Medal Games – Sunday

The bronze medal game is 7 a.m. MT and the gold medal game is 11 a.m. MT, both on TSN 1.
