All Kinds of Recalls and Injuries

There has been a lot of activity for the Flames over the last 24 to 36 hours, both in terms of recalls, demotions and injured players being activated or deactivated.
Here’s the gist of it.
  • Markus Granlund and Corey Potter were assigned back to Adirondack yesterday afternoon following practice, dropping the active roster temporarily to 21.
  • Mikael Backlund and Ladislav Smid were activated from the injured reserve, taking up the two spots that were opened up. This left the “active” injured list empty and Sam Bennett as the lone member of the “non-roster” injured list.
  • This morning, due to the events of last night’s game, both Karri Ramo and Josh Jooris were placed on the injured reserve. Presumably the move is retroactive to yesterday, the date of their injuries, so they’re both on the IR until at least January 14. Presumably Ramo’s injury is related to his collision with Raphael Diaz, while Jooris has been dealing with a laundry list of maladies of late.
  • To fill up the roster spots that were opened up, the team summoned Joni Ortio and Markus Granlund from Adirondack. Most likely they’ll both be up for at least a week.
Yes, Granlund was recalled the day after he was demoted due to an injury to a different player.
