Wednesday night in the NHL sees just three games. Two of the three games consist of four of the top 12 teams in the league standings facing off against one another. The other game is a divisional battle of the bottom two Central Division teams, the Minnesota Wild and Chicago Blackhawks.
With plays in the other two games, here are some notes on the Toronto Maple Leafs and Dallas Stars game:
After an awesome all-star weekend, the Maple Leafs dropped their first game back, 3-2, against the New York Islanders. The Dallas Stars continued their winning streak set before the break, defeating the Buffalo Sabres last night, 2-1.
With recent performance and the +120 odds, the Stars look like a great bet, right? But, this is a stay-away spot because the Maple Leafs have dominated the Stars as of late, winning five straight, and if you want to date back even further, 14 of their last 17 head-to-head meetings.

Minnesota Wild Puck Line -1.5 (+120)

Your $10.00 bet would return $22.00.
The Minnesota Wild currently sit in seventh in the Western Conference wild card standings. While it sounds like a big hill they have to climb themselves out of, they only sit seven points back of the final playoff spot. If the Wild want any chance at making the playoffs, they need to capitalize on match-ups like these against the team dead last in the league standings, the Chicago Blackhawks.
It hasn’t been much of a competition when these two teams meet, as the Wild have won 10 straight against the Blackhawks. Seven of these 10 Wild victories have been by two goals and covered the puck line. Of the Blackhawks’ six most recent losses, they have failed to cover the puck line in five of them.

New York Rangers money line (-130)

Your $12.50 bet would return $17.69.
It’s time to fade the history here in this match-up, as the Tampa Bay Lightning have won six of their last seven games against the New York Rangers. But why, you might ask?
The Lightning are a much different team away from home. They are on track to finish their second straight season with a losing record. The Lightning have a 10-13-2 road record this season and an 18-22-2 road record last season.
The Rangers on the other hand, have an impressive 16-7-0 home record this season, with Jonathan Quick in line for his second start in a row. While the back up goalie starting in net may scare off bettors, Quick has a better record (11-4-2), and stats (2.35 GAA and a .918 SV%) than Rangers regular starter, Igor Shesterkin (19-12-1, 2.86 GAA and a .899 SV%).

Last Game Recap

Andrei Kuzmenko over 1.5 Shots on Goal – WON – (+$7.69)
Calgary Flames & Boston Bruins First Period total under 1.5 – LOSS – (-$7.50)
Jacob Markstrom over 26.5 Saves – LOSS – (-10.00)
Calgary started early with a goal from Andrei Kuzmenko in the first period and never let the foot off the pedal. They did a great job of limiting the Bruins’ shot attempts. While Markstrom only allowed one goal, he did not see the volume as expected for him to hit his over.
All-Time Record: 22-25 (-$61.98)
