Today marks the final morning game for the Calgary Flames this season. This morning’s opponent is the newly reformed New York Islanders. Since the coaching change, bringing on goaltending legend Patrick Roy the Islanders have a 3-2-1 record. While the record is not great they average 2.7 goals against per game — compared to the 3.6 goals against they allowed under former coach Lane Lambert.
Today’s expected goaltending match-up:
The Flames’ Jacob Markstrom (16-13-2) vs. the Islanders Ilya Sorokin (16-12-9).

Calgary Flames moneyline (+110)

Your $10.00 bet would return $21.00.
The Flames have caught some heat lately as they’re on a three-game win streak. Calgary has scored 10 goals while limiting their opponents to four goals over that span.
When these teams met on November 18th, the Islanders defeated the Flames 5-4 in a shootout. Before that, the Flames had historically outperformed this Islanders regimen, winning five of their last six head-to-head meetings.
Look for the Flames to continue on their current winning streak.

Noah Hanifin over 2.5 shots on goal (+115)

Your $10.00 bet would return $21.50.
Noah Hanifin has cleared this total in six of his last nine games, averaging 2.8 shots on 6.4 attempts per game. On the road this season, Hanifin has only cleared at a 26% clip but has covered in three straight, averaging 3.7 shots on 7.7 attempts per game.
Against the Islanders, Hanifin has covered this line in two of his last six games, averaging 3.0 shots on 5.6 shot attempts per game. The Islanders allow the second most shots against this season, averaging 34.9 per game. To defencemen, the Islanders allow the second most shots on goal to the position this season, averaging 14.1 per game.
There have been rumours circulating around a Hanifin trade since the offseason, and it seems like the Flames are trying to bolster his trade value as they’ve now elevated him to the top-line power play unit. The Islanders have allowed their opposing team’s top power play defenceman to clear this line in three of their last five games, with the only two who failed to hit this line, missing by only one shot on goal.
