A Sunday full of hockey, what’s not to love? The Tampa Bay Lightning put their five-game winning streak on the line as they face a familiar foe in former assistant coach Derek Lalonde and the Detroit Red Wings. Speaking of coaches, one of the teams playing today will see their new coach in their debut game.

New York Islanders money line (+100)

Your $10 bet would return $20.00.
The New York Islanders made headlines when they announced Patrick Roy as their new head coach. Their former bench boss, Lane Lambert, was relieved of his duties after a four-game losing streak, topped off by an overtime loss to the Chicago Blackhawks.
Players seem to get up and play better in their first game with their new head coach. There have been four teams to change coaches already this season: The Edmonton Oilers, Minnesota Wild, St. Louis Blues and Ottawa Senators. These team’s first game under their new head coach has a collective record of three wins and one loss.
Their opponent today is the surging Dallas Stars, who’ve won three of their last four games. I’m just trusting in the coaching change, and his players will show extra compete to get their new head coach his first win.

Mitch Marner over 2.5 shots on goal (-134)

Your $10 bet would return $17.50.
Mitch Marner is best known for his playmaker ability, but he’s been a top shooter for the Toronto Maple Leafs as of late. He has cleared this line in seven of his last 10 games, averaging 3.5 shots on 7.3 shot attempts per game.
Of his last nine road games, he has 3+ shots on goal in seven games, averaging 3.8 shots on 7.2 shot attempts. This season, he’s clearing this line at a 52% clip. The Seattle Kraken are allowing the fifth-most shots on goal to right-wingers over their last 10 games, averaging 7.1 to the position per game.
The Maple Leafs are on the latter half of a back-to-back. Players would typically be a little fatigued and shot less — but not Marner. Of the Maple Leafs five back-to-back games this season, Marner has cleared in four games, averaging 3.5 shots on 7.3 shot attempts per game.

Last Game Recap

Dan Vladar Over 27.5 Saves – WIN – (+$7.52)
Flames/Oilers Game Total Over 6.5 & Leon Draisaitl Point – LOSS – (-$10.00)
Jonathan Huberdeau Point – LOSS – (-$10.00)
This Edmonton Oilers squad under new head coach Kris Knoblauch is playing so much better defensively, killing our game total bet. Dan Vladar comes through with our saves, finishing with 30 saves.
All-Time Record: 14-15 (-$30.20)
