Calgary Flames prospect update: almost World Junior season

2 years agoThe World Junior roster announcements are often a bit of a referendum on a team’s prospect base. If that’s true, the Calgary Flames have an unimpressive prospect base – only Matthew Coronato will be at the World Juniors.
But if you look at some of the performances they’ve gotten so far – especially out of some of their players in the American Hockey League – the World Juniors aren’t the be-all, end-all that you might think.
This and that:
- D Johannes Kinnvall and G Tyler Parsons are on the Flames’ season-opening injury reserve after suffering injuries.
- We’re not including Juuso Välimäki’s AHL run in here because (a) it’s been three games and (b) he’s played enough NHL games that we no longer consider him a prospect.
Jack Beck – RW, Ottawa 67’s, OHL

We’ve been waiting about six weeks for Francis to have an impressive week and announce his presence in the QMJHL with many, many points. Well, that happened this week. His quietest game saw him get two assists.
