The Calgary Flames have made a trade to acquire the RFA signing rights to Yegor Sharangovich and a third-round pick (the 80th overall selection) in this year’s NHL Draft in exchange for Tyler Toffoli.

Toffoli, 31, is entering the last year of his four-year contract after having a career season with the Flames under former head coach Darryl Sutter. He scored 34 goals and tallied 39 assists for 73 points, all of which were career-highs. Toffoli was one of the players that reportedly informed the Flames that he would not be re-signing with the team, which forced new general manager Craig Conroy’s hand.
As for what came in return to the Flames, Sharangovich is a 25-year-old forward who has been in the NHL for only three seasons. He is coming off a two-year, $4 million deal with an AAV of $2 million, and in 2022-23, he scored 13 goals and 17 points, which was a disappointment relative to 2021-22, where he reached the 20-goal and 20 assist plateau with a total of 46 points in 76 games. They also received a third-round selection in this year’s draft, which will be 80th overall, adding a sixth pick to their overall total and giving them draft choices in the first four rounds.
The 2023 NHL Draft goes June 28 & 29 from Nashville, TN.
