Calgary Wranglers Series Preview: Midweek meet with the Moose

The Wranglers’ six-game homestand continues with a two game midweek series against the Manitoba Moose. The two are set to play on Tuesday and Thursday nights for their second series of the season. They played previously in November where they split the series. Calgary took game one by a score of 3-2 and Manitoba won the second game in overtime by a score of 4-3. Those games were back in the middle of the Wranglers’ last point streak and even though the Moose sit at fifth in the Central Division, these could be an interesting couple of games.

Notes and expectations
Pending any last-minute game day moves, Matthew Phillips and Radim Zohorna are expected to still be up with the Flames and absent from the Wranglers’ lineup for at least Tuesday’s game and possibly Thursday’s as well.
Someone to keep an eye on is Walker Duehr. For someone who earned himself an NHL call-up to the Flames last season, he hasn’t been too hot out of the gates for the Wranglers. That has since changed since he has settled into the season a bit more.
Duehr is up to 14 points on the year with eight goals and six assists. Five of those goals have been in this scoring streak. He could be on pace for a career year with the Wranglers as he finished last season with 11 goals and 12 assists in 59 games.
Duehr’s performance was slightly overshadowed last game by Emilio Pettersen. Pettersen had an insane goal that put the Wranglers up to 5-2 in their win against San Diego. Here’s a look at his nifty moves once again.
Pettersen has worked his way back up to the starting position he deserves. Earlier in the season, he was scratched for a few games here and there but he has also really started to hit his stride. Pettersen is up to 14 points on the season with four points in his last three games. He’s not a super streaky player but is reliable enough to hit the scoresheet once every game or two.
Even though Dansk got the start on Sunday afternoon, expect to see Wolf for both of these games. Their previous opponent got three straight games against Wolf and was one of the weaker teams in the league. Wolf has still been the go-to guy with league leading stats in shutouts and wins to back it up.
