Connor Mackey took home some hardware on Sunday.
The 24-year-old product of Tower Lakes, IL won a bronze medal as a member of Team USA at the 2021 IIHF World Championship in Latvia.
Mackey played in seven of the Americans’ 10 games, picking up a single assist along the way. He played 13:21 and took one shot in USA’s 6-1 win over Germany in the third-place game on Sunday morning.
The United States has now finished third in four of the last eight World Championship tournaments but has not won gold since 1960.
Mackey played in his first seven NHL games with the Calgary Flames this season, scoring a goal and adding two assists.
He scored 16 points in 27 games as an AHL rookie with the Stockton Heat and was named a Canadian Division all-star for the 2020–21 season.
