A Dallas Stars player has a lighter wallet after an incident in Game 4, the same player who was fined for an incident in Game 3. Stars forward Jamie Benn has been fined $5,000, the maximum amount allowable under the collective bargaining agreement, for tripping Calgary Flames forward Trevor Lewis in the second period of Game 4. (He was previously fined the same amount for high-sticking Andrew Mangiapane in Game 3.)
The fine was for a dangerous trip on Lewis in the opening 30 seconds of the second period. Benn received a penalty on the play, but evidently the Department of Player Safety wanted to punish Benn further for his actions.
Game 5 goes Wednesday night in Dallas. The series is tied 2-2.
