Flames’ all-decade team

This is traditionally the time to look back at the year and/or decade that has just passed and lacking the imagination to do otherwise, we will do the same here.
Specifically, the goal was set to name an all-decade team for the Flames. The first two-thirds of the team was ridiculously easy to fill. Miikka Kirusoff is your goalie, Jarome Iginla is your right winger and your blue-line tandem is Robyn Regehr and Dion Phaneuf.
The centre is one of two fellows — Craig Conroy, who played more games (462) and scored more points (300) than any other Flames pivot this decade, or Daymond Langkow, who was second in games and first in goals (119).
And at left wing? Well, that was a pretty unsettled throughout most of the decade so that means Kristian Huselius, who played less than three full seasons in Calgary, led all Flames portsiders in games, goals, assists and points during the decade.
That all being a little too easy, let’s go ahead and name a full squad. What the heck, let’s even put everyone onto lines and pairings.
Forwards
  • McAmmond-Conroy-Iginla
  • Huselius-Langkow-Bure
  • Tanguay-Lombardi-Bourque
  • Gelinas-Yelle-Amonte
Defencemen
  • Regehr-Phaneuf
  • Leopold-Lydman
  • Gauthier-Warrener
Goalies
  • Kiprusoff
  • Turek
The above team tries to combine the elements of productivity as well as longevity, so one-year Saddledome residents Michael Cammalleri and Chris Drury were excluded.
