After acquiring defensemen Erik Gustafsson and Derek Forbort prior to Monday’s trade deadline the Calgary Flames will continue their current five-game road trip in Boston on Tuesday as +180 underdogs on the NHL odds at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com.
Calgary picked up the veteran rearguard duo to reinforce a blueline battered by a rash of injuries, which has contributed to the middling 7-8-1 run the team takes into Tuesday night’s matchup at TD Garden.

The Flames have sorely missed injured defensemen Mark Giordano and Travis Hamonic, who have both been sidelined since early February. While the Flames managed to open their current road trip with a 4-2 win in Detroit as heavy -225 chalk at betting sites on Sunday, they have struggled to contain opposing shooters in recent outings, surrendering 18 total goals over their past four contests.
Calgary’s porous defense has contributed to a steady run for the OVER in totals betting, which has gone 11-2-1 in the past 14 contests, according to the OddsShark NHL Database. However, the Flames attack has also produced with regularity of late, tallying 4.75 goals per game over their past eight contests.
Despite that success, the Flames remain in desperate need of wins if they are to remain in the playoff picture. After briefly occupying first place in the Pacific Division, Calgary’s recent uneven results have left them deadlocked with the Arizona Coyotes in the Western Conference wild card race, just one point up on the Winnipeg Jets.
However, the Flames have emerged as formidable opponents on the road, posting wins in 13 of their past 17 contests away from Scotiabank Saddledome after picking up two points in just five of their first 16 road dates this season.
The Bruins will also be welcoming a trade deadline addition when they hit the ice on Tuesday night as -220 favorites. Boston added to their forward corps by acquiring Nick Ritchie from the Anaheim Ducks in exchange for Danton Heinen. Ritchie joins a Bruins squad that has been red-hot at home, posting wins in each of their past seven to pad their NHL-leading 39-12-12 record.
Boston has also dominated the Flames in recent meetings, capped by last week’s narrow 4-3 win in Calgary as a +120 underdog. Overall, the Bruins have topped Calgary in six of their last eight matchups, including wins in each of the Flames’ past two visits to TD Garden.
