The Calgary Flames will be looking to kickstart a slumping offence that has averaged just two goals per game over their past four contests when they visit the Toronto Maple Leafs on Thursday as +140 underdogs on the NHL odds at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com.
Calgary is coming off a 2-0 loss to the Montreal Canadiens on Monday that marked the club’s sixth shutout defeat so far this season going into Thursday’s matchup at Scotiabank Arena.

Flames at Maple Leafs | OddsShark Matchup Report

The Flames’ loss in Montreal at -110 on the moneyline put the brakes on a steady five-game win streak that briefly gave the team its first taste of first place in the Pacific Division standings this season. However, steady offensive production has eluded the team, which has scored two or fewer goals in five of its past 10 overall contests.
Calgary eked out victories by the narrowest margins during their recent five-game win streak, claiming wins by a single goal in each of those contests including a 5-4 shootout victory in Minnesota on January 5. The team also continues to sit near the bottom of the team stats in offence, ranking 26th overall with 2.65 goals scored per game.
However, with just three points separating first and fifth place in the Pacific Division, the Flames remain very much in the hunt to repeat as divisional champions. Calgary sits just three points back of the first-place Arizona Coyotes with a game in hand going into Thursday’s action, and maintains +325 odds on the divisional futures at online betting sites.
While the Calgary Flames travel to Toronto looking for an offensive spark, the Maple Leafs will be aiming to tighten up on defence when they hit the ice on Thursday as -160 home favourites. The Maple Leafs are coming off a dominating performance in Tuesday’s 7-4 win over the visiting New Jersey Devils as -280 chalk, ending a worrisome three-game slide during which they surrendered 18 total goals.
The Maple Leafs’ defensive woes have been complicated by injuries to defensemen Jake Muzzin and Morgan Rielly. However, the Maple Leafs have effectively shut down Calgary in recent home dates, limiting the Flames to just 11 total goals while posting wins in six of seven meetings at Scotiabank Arena.
