Playoff positioning in the Western Conference will be up for grabs on Thursday night when the Calgary Flames visit the Nashville Predators as +115 underdogs on the NHL odds at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com.
Calgary remained unbeaten on its current five-game road trip by posting a 5-2 win in Boston on Tuesday, but maintains just a narrow two-point lead over Nashville for the top wild card spot in the Western Conference heading into Thursday’s matchup at Bridgestone Arena.

Flames at Predators | OddsShark Matchup Report

Having played two more games than Nashville and sporting one fewer regulation/overtime win, the Flames come up short on tiebreakers against the Predators. Calgary also falls short on tiebreakers against the Winnipeg Jets, who join the Predators at 70 points.
That means Thursday’s contest holds added importance for the Flames. However, the team has managed to post steady results on the road in recent outings, claiming victory in six of their past seven contests away from Scotiabank Saddledome.
High-scoring results have been common during the Flames’ recent road surge. The team has averaged 4.85 goals per game during its current 6-1-0 run on the road, and 4.77 goals per game in its past nine overall. That has translated into steady results in totals betting, with the OVER at 8-0-1 over Calgary’s past nine contests according to the OddsShark NHL Database.
With the offense clicking the Flames have made moves to bolster their injury-riddled blueline, acquiring rearguards Erik Gustafsson and Derek Forbort ahead of this past Monday’s trade deadline. But while other teams making deadline deals have received a lift on the NHL futures, the Flames’ precarious position atop the playoff bubble has left them lagging. The Flames remain back at +800 on the odds to win the Pacific Division at online sports betting sites, and off the pace at +3500 on the latest Stanley Cup odds.
Sporting a 5-1-1 record over their past seven games, the Predators enter Thursday’s matchup as -135 betting favorites. It has been a difficult road back to playoff contention for Nashville, which has been given a lift by great goaltending that has surrendered just 2.14 goals per game over its past seven outings, and just 10 total goals during a 4-1-0 run at home. However, the Predators have struggled against Calgary, falling to defeat in nine of their last 10 home matchups since January 2014.
