A couple days removed from a big triumph in downtown Los Angeles, the Calgary Flames (41-19-9, 91 points) trek down the highway to face the Anaheim Ducks (28-31-12, 68 points). The Ducks are well out of the playoff picture, but they’re aiming to play spoiler as players work to prepare for next season. Can the Flames make the arena across the highway from Disneyland their happiest place on Earth? Or will the old Honda Center curse come back to haunt them?
The puck drops just after 8 p.m. MT. Catch all the action on Sportsnet West (and One) or Sportsnet 960 The Fan! There’s a Winnipeg/Detroit game on the national Sportsnet feed starting at 5:30, so this game will start immediately on Sportsnet One and be joined on West whenever Jets/Red Wings finishes.

The Flames

Projected lines via Daily Faceoff:
@Johnny Gaudreau – @Elias Lindholm – @Matthew Tkachuk
@Andrew Mangiapane – @Mikael Backlund – @Tyler Toffoli
@Dillon Dube – @Calle Jarnkrok – @Blake Coleman
@Milan Lucic – @Ryan Carpenter – @Trevor Lewis
@Noah Hanifin – @Rasmus Andersson
@Michael Stone – @Chris Tanev
@Nikita Zadorov – @Erik Gudbranson
We’re expecting @Jacob Markstrom to start, backed up by @Daniel Vladar. The projected extras are @Connor Mackey, @Juuso Valimaki and @Adam Ruzicka. @Oliver Kylington is not on the road trip, while @Brett Ritchie has joined the club. Calle Jarnkrok missed Monday’s game due to illness but may be an option tonight.
The Flames played a really good game on Monday, facing a pretty scrappy and desperate Kings team and managing to grind out a close win. The negatives? The Flames took (way) too many penalties, and they still had a puck management mistake end up in the back of their net. If they can keep working on the rough spots in their game, they’ll be a tough team to beat.
@Johnny Gaudreau reached 95 points with a three point effort on Monday. He’s just five points away from hitting 100 for the first time in his career.

The Ducks

Projected lines via Daily Faceoff:
@Sonny Milano – @Trevor Zegras – @Sam Carrick
@Maxime Comtois – @Adam Henrique – @Gerald Mayhew
@Derek Grant – @Isac Lundestrom – @Zach Aston-Reese
@Dominik Simon – @Sam Steel – @Vinni Lettieri
@Cam Fowler – @Jamie Drysdale
@Urho Vaakanainen – @Kevin Shattenkirk
@Josh Mahura – @Andrej Sustr
Update: @Anthony Stolarz starts for Anaheim, backed up by @John Gibson. Their healthy extra is @Simon Benoit. We imagine @Ryan Getzlaf plays, but it’s not clear who comes out from last game’s lines.
The Ducks are out of the post-season mix, but they’re a really interesting team to keep an eye on heading into the summer. They have cap space, a bunch of really good young players, and a new general manager who seems primed to put his mark on the team.
Keep an eye on @Trevor Zegras, because he usually does something eye-catching with the puck.
