The Ontario Hockey League has completed its regular season, and a Calgary Flames prospect has been named that circuit’s top player for the month of April. Soo Greyhounds forward Rory Kerins, a 2020 Flames draft choice, has been named the OHL’s Player of the Month.
Kerins, 20, had four goals and 12 assists over six regular season games. He finished his season with 118 points, second in the league behind Windsor forward Wyatt Johnston’s 24th points. Kerins has a sixth round selection of the Flames in the 2020 NHL Draft, but was limited to just four AHL appearances last season due to the COVID-19 pandemic wiping out the entirety of the OHL’s 2020-21 season. He didn’t seem too phased by the challenging year on the ice, erupting for a massive offensive season and becoming one of the top scorers in the entire OHL.
Kerins signed his entry-level deal with the Flames in March. The Greyhounds will face the Guelph Storm in the opening round of the OHL playoffs.
