The Calgary Flames have added a veteran forward to their lineup. Per Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman, the club has signed forward Trevor Lewis to a one year deal worth $800,000.
The 34-year-old Lewis is a right shot forward who has played 730 NHL games, mostly with the Los Angeles Kings and more recently with the Winnipeg Jets. Lewis won Stanley Cups with the Kings in 2012 and 2014, both times with now-Flames head coach Darryl Sutter. He’s listed at 6’1″ and 205, and he plays a physical, defensive game. He posted five goals and 10 points last season with the Jets.
Lewis projects as a bottom six forward on the Flames who can play centre or the wing. If the idea is the Flames will go young in some of their depth roles, Lewis is a reliable player who can help mentor youngsters like Jakob Pelletier or Glenn Gawdin on the rigors of being an everyday NHLer.
