Two Calgary Flames prospects have been named to the American Hockey League all-star game.
Stockton Heat forwards Glenn Gawdin and Matthew Phillips have gotten the nod for the weekend festivities that take place on Jan. 26-27 in Ontario, Calif.
“This is a well-deserved recognition for the season that both Glenn and Matthew are having. We are extremely proud of them and this is another step forward in their development,” Heat General Manager Brad Pascall said in a statement.
The second-year pro Gawdin is leading the Heat in points with 33 (11 G, 22A) in 30 games and sits third in the entire league behind Utica’s Reid Boucher and Belleville’s Drake Batherson. Currently riding a four-game point streak heading into 2020, Gawdin is five points shy of his rookie season point total of 38.
Phillips, meanwhile, is tied for the team lead in goals notching 14 and has 16 assists for 30 points in 28 games. The 2016 sixth-round pick earned his first NHL call up in December but didn’t dress for any games. Already having scored 14 goals, Phillips surpassed his rookie total of 13 from last season.
