GDFD No. 48: These guys again?

Welcome to the Game Day Fire Drill, for this, Calgary’s 48th game of the season on Jan. 15, 2010.
Is it just me or does it seem like the Flames play the same six teams over and over again?
Nashville again. Who cares any more? They’ve played Nashville, a non-division opponent, three times in the last month for crying out loud. They’ve played Minnesota and Colorado once in that span. How’s that make sense?
The good news, I guess, is that this is the last meeting between these two teams and maybe, just maybe, the Flames won’t embarrass themselves at home again. But things haven’t been going well for Calgary, for which the use of the adjective "punchless" would be incredibly flattering of late.
So yeah, I expect that we will, once again, see the Flames pour 10 million shots on goal and somehow come away with a fraction of a goal to show for it.

Who

The Calgary Flames (26-15-6 for 58 points. Tied for fifth in the West, tied for first in the Northwest) and the Nashville Predators (28-16-3 for 59 points. Tied for fourth in the West, second in the Central).

When

7 p.m. Mountain time and 9 p.m. Eastern time. All other time zones should build a sweet bookshelf.

Where

Pengrowth Saddledome, Calgary, Alberta.
Calgary is 12-9-3 at home this year, and can’t score to save their lives. The Preds are 14-7-2 on the road but won its only other game in Calgary this year with considerable ease.

What (to hate about the Predators)

Patric Hornqvist — When last Calgary played Nashville, I mentioned that this guy had a bunch of goals and that’s pretty good for being the last pick in the draft. Since then, things have gotten nutso. He had a goal in that game, two more (and an assist) two nights after that, and another two nights later. Then, while he went scoreless against the Canucks on Jan. 11, the next night he had a goal and an assist against the Oilers. He has 12 goals and six assists in his last 15 games over 32 days. Not bad for the last pick in 2005.
Marcel Goc — Once again, a scrapheap pickup pays big dividends. His career high for points was 22 when he was a rookie. Career high for goals was eight that same year. This season he already has 9-9-18. Not that he’s a huge contributor or anything but for Marcel Goc? He’s playing like a superstar.
Jordin Tootoo — Like I need to tell you why.

Why

Because you need something to do before you head to the bar. Enjoy the game and anticipate the weekend in the comments section.
