On May 25, 1989, the Calgary Flames beat the Montreal Canadiens by a 4-2 score in Game 6 of the Stanley Cup Finals. The win clinched the series for the Flames and, 25 years later, stands as the club’s lone championship triumph in three trips to the dance.
Colin Patterson, Lanny McDonald and Doug Gilmour (with a pair) scored. Al MacInnis had two assists and won the Conn Smythe as playoff MVP. Lanny McDonald announced his retirement the following August, making this the 25th anniversary of his last NHL game, as well.

In terms of current assets, the 1989 team has been flipped for Chris Butler, Paul Byron, Ben Hanowski, Kenny Agostino and Morgan Klimchuk.
