Heat re-sign Shortridge, add Michaud, Olsen, Greenfield on AHL/ECHL deals

The Stockton Heat have signed Andrew Shortridge, Wes Michaud, Ryan Olsen, and Matt Greenfield to two-way AHL/ECHL contracts for the 2021–22 season, the club announced Monday morning.

Shortridge, 26, split the 2020–21 season between the Heat and the ECHL’s Kansas City Mavericks. He appeared in three games with Stockton and performed admirably, posting a 1-0-1 record with a .952 save percentage. He additionally went 7-5-2 in 14 contests with Kansas City and recorded a .905 save percentage.

Michaud, 25, spent the 2020–21 season competing against the Heat in the Canadian Division with the Manitoba Moose. The 5’10”, 175-pound forward played his first 18 AHL games with the Moose and score two points (one goal, one assist). He joined the Moose after a successful four-year collegiate career with Colorado College and North Dakota.

Olsen, 27, is a 6’2″ right-handed centre who was selected by the Winnipeg Jets in the sixth round of the 2012 NHL draft. After spending three seasons playing for the Jets’ AHL affiliate, Olsen bounced around the professional ranks before winding up in the St. Louis Blues’ system. He scored 17 goals and 34 points in 69 games with the San Antonio Rampage in 2018–19 but fell to 15 points in 57 games the following year; Olsen spent the 2020–21 season with the Kassel Huskies of the second-tier German hockey league.

Greenfield, 26, is a 6’2″ goaltender who, like Shortridge, backstopped the Kansas City Mavericks during the 2020–21 season. The former University of Calgary Dino acquitted himself well in his first 25 professional games, posting an 11-9-4 record and a .916 save percentage for the Flames’ ECHL affiliate. The Parkland, Florida product played 54 games for the Dinos between 2016 and 2020.
