Stockton Heat forward @Jakob Pelletier scored his team’s first goal of the 2022 Calder Cup Playoffs just over 12 minutes into Game 1 of their Pacific Division semifinal series against the Bakersfield Condors.
With @Juuso Valimaki serving a holding penalty, Pelletier beat Condors goaltender @Stuart Skinner on a shorthanded breakaway to give the Heat a 1–0 lead over Bakersfield at the 12:32 mark of the first period.
@Glenn Gawdin picked up the lone assist on Pelletier’s first career AHL post-season goal. The Calgary Flames’ 2019 first-round draft pick finished second on the Heat with 62 points in 66 games as a rookie in 2021–22.
The Heat currently lead the Condors by a 3–1 score after 40 minutes in Game 1. Pelletier, @Emilio Pettersen, and @Walker Duehr have tallied for Stockton; @Dino Kambeitz has the lone goal for Bakersfield.
The Condors advanced to the Pacific Division semifinals after sweeping the Abbotsford Canucks in a best-of-three series. As the top team in the Pacific during the 2021–22 regular season, the Heat advanced directly to the second round of the playoffs.
The first team to three wins in this series between the Condors and Heat will advance to the Pacific Division finals. Stockton will host Games 1 and 2 on Tuesday and Wednesday before the series shifts to Bakersfield for Game 3 on Friday; if necessary, the Condors will host Game 4 on May 15 and the Heat will host Game 5 on May 17.
