The Calgary Flames will be trying to build on their best offensive performance of the season when they host the Winnipeg Jets on Tuesday night as -135 favourites on the NHL odds at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com.
Calgary outlasted the Edmonton Oilers to claim a 6-4 victory over the weekend, but remains three points out of a playoff spot going into Tuesday night’s game at Scotiabank Saddledome.
Jets vs Flames | OddsShark Matchup Report
The Flames’ much needed offensive outburst came on the heels of a shaky 2-5-0 run during which the team tallied just 2.29 goals per game. It also marked the first time the team has scored more than five goals in a regular season contest since mid-February of last year.
Calgary also demonstrated plenty of character in Saturday’s victory over the Oilers as -130 home chalk at sports betting sites. The team overcame an early one-goal deficit, and managed to generate offense at even strength, with five of its six markers coming in five-on-five situations. That marks a turnaround for the Flames, who had been limited to one or fewer even-strength goals in five of their first 10 outings of the season.
The team hopes to extend that trend as they welcome the Jets to the Saddledome for the first time since November 2018. The Flames have struggled in seven regular season contests in Winnipeg since then, posting just two victories while tallying just 16 total goals during that stretch. That run included three losses in four dates at Bell MTS Place so far this season, capped by last Thursday’s lopsided 4-1 defeat as -135 chalk.
Set as +115 underdogs for Tuesday, the Jets’ success against Calgary so far this season has been a huge factor in the team’s climb into third place in the North Division standings. Idle since last Thursday’s victory over the Flames, Winnipeg hits the road for the first time since recording a three-game sweep of the Ottawa Senators during the first week of the season.
However, the Jets have otherwise produced mixed results, going 3-2-1 in six contests since that sweep. And like the Flames, Winnipeg has struggled to generate steady offense, averaging just 2.75 goals per game over its past four outings. The Jets have also struggled on the road during the regular season when playing teams other than the Senators, averaging a meagre 2.30 goals per game in their past 10 such outings. However, that has not produced steady returns in totals betting, with the UNDER going 4-4-2 during that stretch.
