Mikael Backlund Hits 300 Games
By Ryan Pike
8 years agoPerhaps lost in the hubbub and bally-hoo of the Calgary Flames’ big win last night in Vancouver is a pretty significant milestone for Mikael Backlund – especially compared to many of Calgary’s other first-round picks.
The 2007 first round selection of the Flames played his 300th NHL game in Saturday night’s game. Hitting the 300-game mark adds Backlund to a club of just nine former Flames first rounders to play that many games with the franchise. Dion Phaneuf (2003’s first rounder) was the last player to join the club.
