Lots of WJC talk this week on NationRadio with the annual tournament right around the corner. Among the other topics this week is Magnus Paajarvi being sent from the Oilers to their AHL affiliate, the 2011-12 Boston Bruins, Red Deer Rebels and OKC Barons.
This is NationRadio.
Segment 1
Bruce McCurdy from the Edmonton Journal’s Cult of Hockey leads off the show this week with some WJC Talk. Then the conversation turns to Paarjarvi being sent to OKC and the play of Nikolai Khabibulin and Colton Tuebert.
Segment 2
David Staples of the Edmonton Journal stops in to discuss Ladislav Smid, the Hemsky Contract and debates the idea that Anton Lander should be sent down to OKC to sharpen his skills with Linus Omark and Magnus Paajarvi.
Segment 3
Lowetide’s favourite guest Kirk Luedeke joins the show to talk about the strong start to the season for the Boston Bruins as well as his take on the upcoming WJC championships. As an American he makes the case that the US is strong in net. As a Canadian Lowetide makes the case that they don’t stand a chance.*
Segment 4
Cam Moon the play by play man for the Red Deer Rebels tables the controversial idea that Ryan Nugent Hopkins is a very good hockey player. If you can stand wrapping your brain around that concept Moon also discusses the horrendous season so far for the Nugeless Rebels and speculates why Matt Dumba didn’t make Team Canada.
Segment 5
Next on the docket in the court of Lowetide is the legendary Terry Jones from the Edmonton Sun. They start by discussing the exciting news that Jones is going into the HHOF as well as looking ahead to the upcoming WJC tournament.
Segment 6
The final segment of this holiday NationRadio Broadcast is with Jim Byers play by play man of the Oklahoma City Barons. He and Lowetide evaluate the AHL play of Gilbert Brule, Magnus Paarjarvi, Philip Cornet and Colton Tuebert.
