The Calgary Flames will be aiming to win three in a row for just the second time this season when they open a two-game series with the Edmonton Oilers on Monday as slim -115 favourites on the NHL odds at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com.
Calgary is coming off a two-game sweep of the visiting Montreal Canadiens, and has now won three of four on home ice going into Monday night’s matchup at Scotiabank Saddledome.

The Flames have responded to the arrival of recently hired head coach Darryl Sutter, particularly on defense. Calgary limited the Canadiens to two total goals on just 43 total shots in the two-game sweep, and has come away with the win in three of its past four home dates.
In addition to extending their recent dominance over the struggling Canadiens, the Flames’ stingy performance marks a dramatic turnaround from their final six games under bench boss Geoff Ward, in which they allowed 4.17 goals per game. Those tight contests have kindled a 3-1 run for the UNDER at sports betting sites, and also mark the first time the Flames have limited opponents to one or fewer goals in consecutive games since January 2020.
More importantly, the Flames’ recent wins have lifted the team to within just two points of Montreal in the battle for the fourth and final playoff spot in the North Division, and leaves them just seven points back of Edmonton with two games in hand.
While the Flames turned in stout defensive performances against a slumping Montreal attack, they can expect a stiffer test against the Oilers. Calgary has struggled at both ends of the ice while falling to defeat in three straight meetings with the Oilers. The Flames opened the season series with a wide-open 6-4 home victory back on February 6, but have been outscored by a 12-4 overall margin in three subsequent defeats.
Fortunately for Calgary, the Oilers arrive in town as -105 underdogs in the wake of a frustrating 2-1 loss in Vancouver on Saturday night. In addition to snapping a four-game win streak that started with a 3-2 home win over the Flames on March 6, Saturday’s defeat also brought an end to a six-game win streak on the road.
However, even with the loss the Oilers continue to be a defensive force in contests played away from Rogers Place. With netminder Mike Smith getting the lion’s share of the work, Edmonton has surrendered just nine total goals over its past seven road contests, and ranks third in the NHL with a team goals-against average of just 2.42 on the road this season.
