Friday nights are usually chock full of hockey! While the Calgary Flames were off last night and preparing for tonight’s game with Edmonton, many of their prospects were in action.
Here’s a quick rundown of last night’s prospects.
-The Colorado Eagles visited the Alaska Aces up in Anchorage. They lost 5-4 in a shootout. The Aces were up 4-0, but Colorado scored four times in the third to tie it, including two goals (and an assist) from Brett Kulak. Taylor Vause, recently sent back from Adirondack, had a goal and two assists.
-Michigan State University won 2-1 in a special game with Michigan University that took place in Joe Louis Arena. Flames pick Matt Deblouw had two roughing minors…and the game-winning goal early in the third period. He was named second star.
-Hunter Smith had two assists in the Oshawa Generals’ 5-4 loss to Peterborough (and got in an early first-period fight). He was named second star.
-Mason McDonald gave up 5 goals in a 6-1 loss for the Charlottetown Islanders at the hands of the Chicoutimi Sagueneens. Granted, it may not have been entirely his doing, as his team gave up 45 shots.
-The Calgary Hitmen beat Prince Albert 10-1. Don’t get too excited, though, as Keegan Kanzig had zero points, 12 penalty minutes and was minus-1. Yes, in a game his team won by more than a touchdown.
-Austin Carroll was held off the scoresheet in a 3-0 Victoria Royals win over Spokane, but draft-eligible forward Tyler Soy had three points.
-Morgan Klimchuk had a goal, an assist and was plus-2 in Brandon’s 6-4 win over Moose Jaw. Eric Roy had an assist.
-Colgate lost to Cornell 2-1 in overtime. Tim Harrison was held off the scoresheet.
-Boston University beat Massachusetts 9-5. Brandon Hickey had two goals, both on the power-play.
-Providence College lost to Boston College 3-2. Mark Jankowski had an assist, John Gilmour was held pointless and Jon Gillies made 33 saves in the loss.
