The Calgary Flames beat the New York Rangers by a 4-1 score on Sunday night. Here are selected reactions from players and coaches following the game.
“I think we came out a little flat-footed there. Ritter obviously played really well tonight for us, kept us in that game in the first. Found a way to score a goal towards the end of the first period there, got our legs moving in the second, found a couple goals and then he played really well in the third when they made their push there because they were down a couple goals there. So he did a great job.” – Flames forward Johnny Gaudreau on David Rittich’s strong performance in net.
“We didn’t play our game in the first. We didn’t move our legs. I think we’re a fast team but you didn’t see that. So we kinda focused on that in the second and I thought we played more direct in the second period, stuff started rolling and then got a little loose in the third. But that’s when Ritter comes in and plays lights-out.” – Flames forward Garnet Hathaway on how the game unfolded.
“I thought he gave us a chance to get into the game, build a game, and then in the third they really pushed hard and we didn’t manage the puck very well and Ritter bailed us out numerous times. So real good performance by him.” – Flames head coach Bill Peters on David Rittich’s performance.
