The Calgary Flames won their third game on Wednesday night, beating the Montreal Canadiens by a 4-1 score. The victory kept the club’s flickering playoff hopes alive.
Here are some selected quotes from the post-game media addresses.

Darryl Sutter

Sutter was asked about his club’s desperation against Montreal. Sutter instead emphasized the team’s focus.
I think we’re pretty focused on how we have to play to beat Montreal. We knew last night that we were going to have to check our asses off to try and win that game and we did. I give our guys credit. First period tonight, we came out and played really well.
Sutter was asked about the team’s confidence after three wins in a row. He referenced recent comments he made in a previous media availability about the team not having confidence issues.
Our team doesn’t have a confidence problem. The biggest issue that this team has had is playing at a pace that the rest of the league is playing at. It’s been a real issue for this club and it’s not something that just happens overnight, you have to learn it. And we’re learning it as we go. It has nothing to do with confidence. We’ve played every game, but it’s  so close that there’s not much difference in any of the games we play, so it’s certainly got nothing to do with confidence.
Sutter was asked about the team’s recent consistency and execution. Sutter noted the recent three days of practice, mentioning that when he arrived the team had multiple days of practice and then won three in a row.
There’s a lot of structure work that has to be done that’s hard to do during games. When you play a lot of games without practice then it comes back to haunt you. We’re learning that, but you need practice time to do that so we just need to stay in the moment.
