The Calgary Flames played their third game under Darryl Sutter on Monday night. They played a superb back-and-forth game, beating the Edmonton Oilers by a 4-3 score.
Here are some selected quotes from the post-game media addresses.

Elias Lindholm

In three games under Sutter, the Flames have played 180 minutes: they’ve led for 126:58, were tied for 54:02 and have trailed for 0:00. Lindholm attributes the change to their coach’s emphasis on better starts.
I think our first periods before Darryl came in, we were starting pretty slow and it was one of those things when we were down a lot. He came in and made it pretty clear, too, that we had to be better from the get-go, from the start, as soon as the puck drops. It’s better to play with the lead and hopefully we can keep that going.

Darryl Sutter

The Flames remain undefeated under Sutter. While their overall game wasn’t air-tight or perfect, the coach was fairly happy with the result (but also noted subsequently that they remain outside of a playoff spot).
I think we were in fits and spurts, but I thought overall we did a pretty good job. We could play better. I think that we lost coverage a couple times, cost us goals. Overall I thought it was a pretty solid game and I think our goalie in the last three or four minutes made some big saves to hang on for the win.
Oliver Kylington played his fifth game of the season on Monday. He earned his first point of the season and was generally noticeable for positive reasons quite a bit. Sutter shared his thoughts on his blueliner.
Well, I give him credit. He got hit pretty hard by our bench there. I couldn’t see him down at the bottom there. He only missed a little, he came back and he was pretty solid. From that third pair we’re looking for some solid minutes and I think he was pretty good tonight. Probably has to work with his partner a little bit better.
