Quotable: the Flames lose to the Maple Leafs 4-2
By Ryan Pike
3 years agoAs they have been recently, the Calgary Flames were pretty good on Friday night. But the mistakes they made cost them, again. They lost a tight 4-2 game to the Toronto Maple Leafs. The club is now 5-8-0 under Darryl Sutter, having lost eight of their last 10 games after winning their first three after his arrival.
Here are some selected quotes from the post-game media addresses.
David Rittich
After what could have been his final start for the Flames, Rittich was asked about the upcoming trade deadline. He wasn’t particularly chatty.
Don’t try and make a story here. This is my team and I want to stay with this team as long as I can.
Darryl Sutter
Sutter reflected on how the game slipped away from his team after two good periods.
We made a rush read mistake on the third goal and we turned the puck over leaving our zone on the fourth goal. Their two big centremen scored goals and put the game away for them.
Sutter was asked if the team, as it’s built now, is good enough to win in today’s league.
This team has to play, in order to keep up, your team has to play at a pace and you have to be able to execute at that pace and you have to check at that pace and for some of our players, that’s difficult.
