With Rob Kerr leaving FAN960 earlier this summer to become the Flames play-by-play man on Sportsnet TV, a vacancy was created in the afternoons on Sportsnet Radio. After an exhaustive search, the powers that be have finally found their man… err, men.
Bryn Griffiths, former morning show host and Sports Director at Edmonton’s Team 1260, along with our very own Pat Steinberg, will team up weekdays from 2PM – 6PM. In addition to co-hosting the afternoon drive show, Griffiths will also host Flames game day broadcasts at Sportsnet Radio.

Griffiths spent over seven years at the helm of The Team 1260, assisting in the launch of Edmonton’s first all sports radio station back in 2002. Not only was Bryn the Sports Director, but he also hosted the morning show, More On Sports (at one time produced by Brad "Turtle" Slater), alongside Jake Daniels. As the name suggests (a play on Moron Sports), Bryn likes to have a little fun with things and doesn’t take himself too seriously. Living just outside Edmonton myself, I spent many morning hours listening to the Mighty Mouth over the years, and I am looking forward to hearing he & Pat talk shop starting September 19th.
Prior to working at The Team 1260, Bryn spent nearly four years (1997-2001) as the Media and Community Relations Manager of the Edmonton Oilers, as well as a similar position in Winnipeg, where he also did color commentary for the Jets radio broadcast’s in the 1990/91 season.
With over 20 years of broadcasting experience, Griffiths is chomping at the bit to get back in the game after a two year hiatus from the airwaves. Asked if leaving Edmonton after so many years calling it home was bittersweet, Bryn responded by saying
"Nope. Not really. New adventure and I have no issue with Calgary at all. AB is blessed to have TWO great cities. I just try to be fair……..Sometimes people go too far with the rivalry thing. Not me. It’s fun and I love it. Just hate it when it becomes too petty."
"My wife and I are totallky stoked about the move and looking forward to our next adventure. Plus it’s going to be a treat being part of an NHL broadcast again. They have a great staff at the station and I’m pumped to be part of it."
So with that, on behalf of FlamesNation, let us welcome @Fan960Griffiths into the mix. Enjoy Calgary! We’ll be listening.
