The wait is finally over for @Blake Coleman.
The 30-year-old Calgary Flames winger scored his first goal since Oct. 28 early in the second period of his team’s game against the Anaheim Ducks on Friday.
With Calgary trailing Anaheim by a 1–0 score, the Flames broke in on a 3-on-2 rush. @Trevor Lewis flipped the puck toward a streaking @Sean Monahan, who deftly managed to deflect the puck over to a wide-open Coleman on the left side.
Coleman one-timed Monahan’s pass by Ducks goaltender @John Gibson to knot the score at 1–1. Lewis picked up the secondary helper on Coleman’s fourth goal of the season, which came at the 3:49 mark of the second period.
Here’s the video of the play, as posted by the verified Sportsnet Twitter account:
Coleman is in the first season of a six-year, $4.9 million AAV contract he signed with Calgary in July. He managed just two assists during his 16-game goalless drought; through his first 23 games with the Flames, Coleman has four goals and seven points.
Calgary currently leads Anaheim 3–1 late in the middle frame. @Elias Lindholm and Monahan have added goals for the Flames; @Sonny Milano opened the scoring for the Ducks in the first period.
