Wotherspoon Returned to AHL, Potter Recalled

In a roster move elegant in its simplicity, the Calgary Flames have returned left-shooting defender Tyler Wotherspoon to the American Hockey League’s Adirondack Flames and recalled right-shooting defender Corey Potter.
Wotherspoon, 21, was originally recalled on January 26 along with David Wolf and Sven Baertschi but has played zero minutes, as the Flames appear to be loathe to mess with their line-up right now except due to illness or injury. Given that Raphael Diaz is contributing on the power-play and generally playing well, Wotherspoon hadn’t gotten in yet (and likely wasn’t going to). Wotherspoon was previously recalled January 20-22. Wotherspoon last played (in the AHL) on January 24, 11 days ago.
Potter, 31, has previously been recalled twice – December 13-23 and December 26-January 7 – and got into zero games. Given his age and place in his career, I doubt the team sees much issue with him not playing. But they’d love Wotherspoon to get games in somewhere, hence this move.
