Matt Boldy and Arthur Kaliyev injured
With the start of the NHL pre-season, it’s not uncommon for players to suffer injuries. It was announced on Monday that Minnesota Wild forward Matt Boldy suffered a lower-body injury and is week-to-week.
Drafted 12th-overall in the 2019 draft, Boldy made his NHL debut in 2021-22, scoring 15 goals and 39 points in 47 games. The following season, he scored a career-high 31 goals and 63 points in 81 games, before scoring 29 goals and 69 points in 75 games.
Moreover, Los Angeles Kings’ forward Arthur Kaliyev will be out indefinitely, as he suffered a fractured clavicle on the second day of training camp.

Kaliyev was selected 33rd by the Kings in the 2019 draft. In his first full season in 2021-22, he scored a career-high 14 goals and 27 points in 80 games. The following season, he scored 13 goals and a career-high 28 points in 56 games. However, he was often involved in trade rumours in 2023-24 and scored seven goals and 15 points in 51 games.

The 28-year-old’s career in North America was marked with controversy, as he was bought out twice. His career-best season came in 2019-20, when he scored a career-high 15 goals and 53 points. Overall, DeAngelo played for four teams, not including the Tampa Bay Lightning, who drafted him 19th-overall in the 2014 draft.
It’s unclear if DeAngelo will get another opportunity in the National Hockey league, but he only played 31 games with the Carolina Hurricanes in 2023-24, scoring three goals and 11 points while often sitting in the press box.

On Monday, it was reported that five teams have placed a bid for the 2026 tournament – the Brandon Wheat Kings, Kelowna Rockets, Lethbridge Hurricanes, Medicine Hat Tigers, and Spokane Chiefs.
Brandon, Kelowna, and Spokane have all hosted the tournament once, while Medicine Hat and Lethbridge have never hosted it. Moreover, Spokane and Brandon have each won two Memorial Cups, while Kelowna has won the tournament once.
