The Calgary Flames have made their first – of many – selections of the second day of the 2026 NHL Draft.
With their own second-round pick, 36th overall, the Flames have selected forward Chase Harrington of the Western Hockey League’s Spokane Chiefs.
Harrington was ranked 26th among North American skaters by the NHL’s Central Scouting Service. He was ranked 46th by Daily Faceoff and ranked 76th by Elite Prospects.
A product of Prince George, British Columbia, Harrington is a left shot forward, primarily a winger, listed at 6’1″ and 194 pounds. He’s an October 2007 birthday, so he joined the Chiefs a year earlier than most of the other kids in this draft. In 2025-26, his third full WHL season, he had 28 goals and 57 points in 61 games.
Here’s what Daily Faceoff’s Steven Ellis wrote about Harrington in his final draft rankings:
Harrington has been a bubble prospect for me for a while, but I do appreciate his game. He’s built like a rocket launcher – he wants to send you flying any time he can. Harrington is no slouch offensively, either, putting up 56 points in 61 games on a Spokane team that often struggled to generate consistent scoring chances. He’s very dangerous around the net, and he’s flashy, too. I think there’s a clear path for him as an energy forward in the NHL who could step up into a bigger role if needed.
Over at Dobber Prospects, James Connelly had this evaluation:
Chase Harrington is an interesting player to evaluate, as in his D-1, he played a complementary role with Spokane, where he scored 50 points, but this year, he was thrust into a role as Spokane’s #1 player, where he did not flourish as one would have hoped. However, Harrington’s skill set projects him as a complementary winger rather than a play-driving one. Harrington often tried to take over games, and more often than not, it did not work out in his favor. He is utilized best in the corners, diving into battles, battling in front of the net, and bringing an agitator aspect to his game.
