Way back in 2011, the Calgary Flames selected Sven Baertschi in the first round of the NHL Draft. On Aug. 24, Baertschi announced his retirement from hockey at the age of 30 after a playing career that had its fair shares of ups and downs.
On Friday, Baertschi joined Rob Kerr on Just A Game in a pretty lengthy chat.
The conversation featured Baertschi essentially walking Kerr (and listeners) through his career. From his whirlwind draft year, to the “Svensanity” of his five game emergency recall in 2011-12, to his later career challenges and beyond.
He discussed his decision to retire from playing and got into what his plans are for the future, as well.
