After a road trip where they captured three points over three games, the Calgary Flames (7-8-1, 15 points) return home to the historic Scotiabank Saddledome to welcome the Anaheim Ducks (8-7-1, 17 points) for the very final time in this building. It’s a pretty noteworthy game, as the Flames could pull themselves back up to .500 for the first time this season, and it’s the debut of the team’s Hometown Remix jerseys!
Today’s broadcast begins at 7 p.m. Alberta Time on Sportsnet West and QR Calgary! Tune in for Warmies before the game and After Burner following the game on the Barn Burner YouTube channel!

The Flames

Projected lines via Daily Faceoff:
Aydar Suniev – Morgan Frost – Yegor Sharangovich
Joel Farabee – Mikael Backlund – Matt Coronato
Matvei Gridin – Martin Pospisil – Ryan Strome
William Stromgren – Jonathan Castagna – Adam Klapka
Kevin Bahl – Simon Nemec
Jake Middleton – Zach Whitecloud
Yan Kuznetsov – Zayne Parekh
We’re expecting Dustin Wolf to start in net, backed up by Devin Cooley. The expected extras are Joel Hanley and Maxim Tsyplakov. Devin Cooley returns to the lineup after missing four games with a lower body injury. Aside from that, no changes from the recent lineup.
Since Oct. 22, the Flames have played (at least) every second day, with eight games over the past 14 days. Friday’s game is their ninth over 16 days, and the run ends on Sunday against the Flyers, their 10th game in 18 days. So far during this run of games, they’re 5-2-1. Joel Farabee (10 points) and Matt Coronato (9 points) are over a point-per-game in this run, but Matvei Gridin (7 points) isn’t far off.
The Flames aren’t a run and gun team. The margins have been pretty narrow in their recent wins. But they’re finding ways to win, and it’s the young players leading the way for the most part.

The Ducks

Projected lines via Daily Faceoff:
Alex Killorn – Leo Carlsson – Judd Caulfield
Cutter Gauthier – Mikael Granlund – Beckett Sennecke
Nico Myatovic – Tim Washe – Sam Colangelo
Jeff Malott – Roger McQueen – Nikita Nesterenko
Jackson LaCombe – Drew Helleson
Pavel Mintyukov – Noah Warren
Travis Mitchell – Tristan Luneau
We’re projecting Lukas Dostal to start, backed up by either Laurent Brossoit (who started in Edmonton) or Ville Husso (who did not). Their healthy extras on Thursday were Frank Vatrano and Tyson Hinds. It’s the second half of a back-to-back for Anaheim, and their fourth game over the past six days. They beat Edmonton by a 5-4 score on Thursday.
The Ducks have been a win-one, lose-one team for much of the season. They haven’t yet been able to string extended runs of success together, and that’s likely been a source of some frustration for them. You look at their team composition and the progression of some of their younger players and say to yourself, “This team should be better than they are.” We’ll see if the Ducks can find their rhythm.

Unavailable players

The Flames are without Jonathan Huberdeau, Sam Honzek and Brennan Othmann.
The Ducks are without Troy Terry, Ian Moore, Ryan Poehling and A.J. Greer.
