The Calgary Flames lost in overtime to the Winnipeg Jets on Friday night. They beat the Edmonton Oilers on Saturday night. On Monday afternoon, in the final game of the 2024 Young Stars Classic tournament the Flames clash with the host Vancouver Canucks, a team that has two victories to their name.
The Canucks (2-0-0) can sweep their own tournament with a victory. The Flames (1-0-1) can claim a tournament triumph with a win of their own. It’s September and it’s just bragging rights on the line, but these two teams haven’t usually needed much more than that to get feisty against each other.
The game begins at 3:30 p.m. MT and you can catch the action on the Calgary Flames site (live video stream) and Sportsnet 960 The Fan (radio).

Waltteri Ignatjew starts, backed up by Connor Murphy.
Players to Watch: Let’s single out two players that were pretty noticeable in the first two games: Lucas Ciona and Andrew Basha. Both were moving well and forechecking well, and heading into the third game of the weekend, it might very well be that the team that gets the right boost of energy at the right time could win. Keep an eye out for Ciona and Basha in that regard.

Nikita Tilopilo starts, backed up by Ty Young.
Player to Watch: The biggest Canucks names here are Lekkerimaki and Pettersson and they’ve earned the attention. Lekkerimaki and “D-Petey” (as he’s called) are coming over from pretty good runs in Sweden and so far have adjusted nicely. They’re worth keeping your eyes on.
