Friends, if you’ve been seeing the early results for the National Hockey League’s Calgary Flames and have said to yourself, “Oh man, if only we had oodles of prospects to watch while the Flames figure themselves out,” we have some good news for you.
By the end of this weekend, essentially every single prospect in the Flames organization will be playing meaningful hockey games. Well, except for Aidan Lane at Harvard, as the Ivy League teams don’t start their seasons until the end of October for some reason. (The reason is probably school.)
Over this past weekend, we saw Egor Barabanov, Max Curran and Tobias Trejbal (University of Massachusetts), Trevor Hoskin (Merrimack College), Eric Jamieson (University of Denver), Jaden Lipinski (University of Maine), Cade Littler (Arizona State University), Henry Mews (University of Michigan) and Ethan Wyttenbach (Quinnipiac University) all began their seasons.
This coming weekend, we’ll see them joined by Carson Carels and Cole Reschny (University of North Dakota), Jack Hextall and Cullen Potter (Michigan State University) and Luke Misa (Penn State University). All three teams kick off on Friday: Penn State plays UConn, Michigan State faces Western Michigan, and North Dakota takes on Bemidji State.
Aidan Lane at Harvard has to wait until Oct. 29 to begin regular season games.
In the meantime: man, there’s a lot to keep track of. Onto the updates!
(Note: Hunter Brzustewicz has played too many NHL games to be eligible for the Calder Trophy, but he’s waiver exempt and in the AHL, so we’re going to list him as a prospect in this update for the time being.)

Egor Barabanov – C, University of Massachusetts Minutemen, NCAA

20; Calgary’s fourth round pick (100th overall) in the 2026 NHL Draft; 6’0″ 175 pounds; shoots left
