The Calgary Flames will have a trio of their top prospects representing them with Hockey Canada at the upcoming World Junior Summer Showcase.

On Friday, Hockey Canada announced the 32 players that will be in attendance for the annual event that pits preliminary World Junior rosters from Canada, the United States, Sweden and Finland head-to-head in a summer tune-up. Among the Canadian roster are a trio of Flames properties: 2025 first-round pick Cole Reschny, 2026 first-round pick Carson Carels and 2026 second-round pick Chase Harrington.

Canada invited 33 players – 4 goaltenders, 10 defencemen and 19 forwards – with Seattle prospect Jack O’Brien invited to camp but unable to attend. For the curious, Canada brought 25 players to the World Juniors last season (3 goalies, 8 defenders and 14 forwards).

Reschny, 19, has suited up for Canada four times over the past three seasons, representing the maple leaf at the Under-17 Hockey Challenge, the Hlinka Gretzky Cup, the Under-18 World Championships and the World Juniors. He’s returning to the University of North Dakota for his sophomore year after being named his conference’s top rookie last season.

Carels, 18, has suited up for Canada four times over the past two seasons – one-upping Reschny – with trips to the Under-17 Hockey Challenge, the Under-18 Worlds, the Hlinka Gretzky Cup and the World Juniors. Last season, in his draft year, he played at the Hlinkas and the World Juniors. He’s headed to the University of North Dakota for his freshman year.

Harrington, 18, last represented Canada at the Under-17 Hockey Challenge back in 2023-24. He’s perhaps a bit of a long-shot to make the team compared to Reschny and Carels, who are both pretty decent bets to return to the World Juniors after winning bronze last winter, but keep an eye on Harrington. If he has a strong start to his year with the Western League’s Spokane Chiefs, he could make some noise. At the very least, by virtue of his invite to the camp, he’s on the radar.

Reschny, Carels and Harrington join five other Flames prospects already named to other summer junior rosters: Theo Stockselius (2025 second-round pick) with Sweden, and Cullen Potter (2025 first-round pick), Mace’o Phillips (2025 third-round pick), NCAA leading scorer Ethan Wyttenbach (2025 fifth-round pick) and Jack Hextall (2026 first-round pick) with the United States.

The 2026 World Junior Summer Showcase runs July 25-Aug. 1 in Windsor, Ontario. The 2027 World Juniors run Dec. 26, 2026-Jan. 5, 2027 in Edmonton and Red Deer, Alberta.
