The Flames’ best fights of 2025-26: Ryan Lomberg exacts revenge after high hit on Zayne Parekh

Last season, the Calgary Flames fought 23 times. Ryan Lomberg accounted for five of them.

While Lomberg’s tenure as a Flame may have come to an end at the start of the off-season, it’s hard to deny just how valuable of a team player he was. Early in the season, the Flames hosted the Vegas Golden Knights, and late in that game, Colton Sissons caught rookie Zayne Parekh up high with a hit.

Somehow, the Flames didn’t come away with a power play, as it was downgraded to a two-minute minor, and Sissons declined to fight MacKenzie Weegar. The Flames ended up losing that game.

Four days later, the Flames travelled to Las Vegas, and this time around, Sissons was willing to throw down. Less than two and a half minutes into the game, Lomberg and Sissons met in the Flames zone.

Lomberg landed an uppercut, then a few crosses before Sissons even had an attempt to throw a punch. When Sissons did attempt a punch, it amounted to nothing, missing an uppercut. Lomberg fired off an uppercut of his own, with Sissons falling to the ice shortly after.

The Flame was the decisive winner in this bout. Of the 42 hockeyfights.com voters, all but one awarded Lomberg the victory, and overwhelming 98%. The fight’s 5.26 rating also ranked it as the fifth-best Flames’ fight this past season.

It was Lomberg’s second fight of the season, with the first one also ranking on this list. He’s got on to fight three more times in his Flames career, with another one ranking as a top-five Flames’ fight in 2025-26.

Every successful rebuilding team needs a player like Lomberg. Though he’s a bottom six player, Lomberg was always willing to stick up for a teammate, which was the case for this specific fight. On July 1, Lomberg signed a two-year deal with the Columbus Blue Jackets, thus ending his second Flames stint.
