After splitting a weekend back-to-back and beating San Jose on Monday night, the Calgary Flames (7-8-0, 14 points) will conclude a three game road swing on Wednesday night when they face the Seattle Kraken (8-5-1, 17 points) at Climate Pledge Arena. It’s the final game of the season series between the Flames and Kraken! Yes, already.

Today’s broadcast begins at 9 p.m. Alberta Time on Sportsnet West and QR Calgary! Tune in for Warmies before the game and After Burner following the game on the Barn Burner YouTube channel! (It’s the first 9 p.m. start of the season. We know. We’re sorry.)

Projected lines via Daily Faceoff:

Aydar Suniev – Morgan Frost – Yegor Sharangovich
Joel Farabee – Mikael Backlund – Matt Coronato
Matvei Gridin – Martin Pospisil – Ryan Strome
William Stromgren – Jonathan Castagna – Adam Klapka

Kevin Bahl – Simon Nemec
Jake Middleton – Zach Whitecloud
Yan Kuznetsov – Zayne Parekh

We’re expecting Dustin Wolf to start in net, backed up by Arsenii Sergeev. The expected extras are Joel Hanley and Maxim Tsyplakov. We wouldn’t expect any changes from Monday’s lineup.

Since the Flames’ win over Seattle on Friday, they’ve played twice and gone 1-1-0, losing to Colorado and then beating San Jose. They’re 7-3-0 over their last 10 games, and a lot of little things are going right for them right now. They probably weren’t as bad as their opening 0-5-0 record suggested. They probably aren’t as good as their 7-3-0 record indicates lately either. But they’re playing well and their younger players are key reasons as to why they’re winning.

Projected lines via Daily Faceoff:

Bobby McMann – Matty Beniers – Jordan Eberle
Chandler Stephenson – Frederick Gaudreau – Matthew Wood
Kaapo Kakko – Berly Catton – Mackie Samoskevich
Jani Nyman – Ben Meyers – Ryan Winterton

Vince Dunn – Adam Larsson
Ryker Evans – Brandon Montour
Josh Mahura – Cale Fleury

We’re projecting Joey Daccord to start in net, backed up by Philipp Grubauer. Their projected extra is Ville Ottovainen.

The Kraken lost to the Flames on Friday, then flew home to Seattle and have been idle. They made a trade this week, sending Shane Wright to Nashville in exchange for Matthew Wood, who looks like he’ll make his Kraken debut on Wednesday evening. Both players are past first-rounders who never really found their stride with their original clubs, so we’ll see if a fresh start can get them rolling.

The Flames are without Jonathan Huberdeau, Sam Honzek, Devin Cooley and Brennan Othmann.

The Kraken are without Jared McCann, Ryan Lindgren, Jacob Melanson and Curtis Douglas.

This is the fourth of four meetings between these Pacific Division rivals. Seattle won the first two meetings by identical 6-1 scores, but the Flames won 6-2 last week.
